In my family, this recipe has been passed down through the generations. Overripe bananas can be used in this recipe. Additionally, it’s a moist cookie that travels well by mail or car.

Set oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees C).

Combine the cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda, and salt in a sieve.

Shortening and sugar are combined, then they are whipped until fluffy.

Oatmeal, nuts, and an egg are added.

Mix well.

Mix well after adding the dry ingredients and drop by teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake for 15 minutes, or until edges start to lightly brown, at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).

On a wire rack, cool.

Keep in a covered container.
