Basil Cake with Balsamic Strawberries
A rich white cake baked in a fluted tube pan has the beguiling flavor of sweet basil. The cake is served with fresh strawberries in balsamic syrup for an unusual and fresh springtime dessert.
Set oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees C).
Grease a fluted tube pan (like a Bundt®) liberally.
In a large bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, eggs, and sour cream.
Add the cake mix, instant vanilla pudding mix, and basil, and whisk until the batter is smooth.
Fill the pan with the batter.
Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre of the thickest part of the cake comes out clean.
Prior to turning the cake out onto a rack to finish cooling, allow the cake to cool in the pan for 20 minutes.
