Easy Creamed Pearl Onions
Pearl onions become a decadent side dish when paired with an easy sauce using butter, flour, and light cream. Fresh parsley adds a bright flavor to this rich crowd-pleaser.
Put the onions in a big pot, add salted water, and bring to a boil.
Simmer for about 10 minutes until tender, reducing heat to medium-low.
Drain.
Over medium heat, melt the butter; cook and stir the flour and nutmeg for about five minutes; season with salt and pepper.
Add cream to flour mixture; cook and stir for an additional 5 minutes, or until bubbling and thick.
For two to three minutes, heat up the cream sauce while stirring in the onion and parsley.
