Oatmeal Soda Bread
This recipe is very simple and also benefits from being low-fat. The loaf is formed while baking.
Set oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees C).
Mix the flour, salt, baking soda, and 1/2 cup of oats in a large bowl.
Combine sour cream, milk, honey, and sugar in a separate bowl.
Add to the flour mixture and stir just long enough to combine.
Add melted butter or margarine and stir.
Put the dough on a baking sheet that has been lightly sprayed.
Form into a circle that is about 8 inches in diameter and lightly mounded.
Sprinkle the final tablespoon of oats on top of the loaf after brushing it with melted butter or margarine.
Slice the loaf’s top into quarters with a knife.
To brown, bake for about 40 minutes.
Slice only after complete cooling.
